Nearly every organization in the Third Reich had its own dagger and many of them had a motto engraved on the blade.
The SA and NSKK had “Alles für Deutschland,” “Everything for Germany.” The SS had “Meine Ehre Heisst Treue,” “My honor is called truth.” The NPEA had "Mehr sein als scheinen," “Be greater than you seem.” The Hitler Youth had “Blut und Ehre,” “Blood and honor.”
The only one that came close to expressing a universal truth, in my opinion, was on the Reich Labor Service hewer – “Arbeit adelt,” “Work ennobles.”
Work does, indeed, enhance one’s confidence and self esteem and instills a sense of purpose – facts appreciated by only about half the U.S. population today.
